I find it very funny and odd that a baby will crawl along the floor, notice something on the ground, and then proceed to put it in their mouth. It's not even a question of "should I do this?" It is: "I see something on the floor--I'm going to eat it!" As if we all go around doing that. How weird would it be if I just randomly walked up to a table or a counter, (thinking of something at my level) saw a rubberband or piece of fuzz, and then ate it?
Obviously, babies can get away with it because a) their immune systems are much tougher than ours b) they are exploring their world c) they just look so cute; they can get away with anything! :)
